The Flying Elephant Company was founded in 2020 for its inaugural project, a two week South Australian school tour of an original, space-fantasy musical about young girl's struggle with anxiety and self-worth, titled Girl Inside. This show weaved elements from musical theatre, and a rich orchestral score to blend storytelling strategies from theatre and film into a single cohesive experience. The success of Girl Inside set the formula for what was to come. While there was a long wait before the company's second musical in 2022, The Boy with the Golden Fox, it has become one of the company's most seen works.
The Flying Elephant Company primarily specialises in creating theatre for preteens and families. Our productions are designed to captivate and engage children, often blending whimsical narratives with important life lessons and values. Our stories have themes that are deliberately complex while still within a young person's reach with the intention of creating opportunities for deeper conversations between parents and their children who are experiencing a continuously changing world .
This means The Flying Elephant Company’s productions aim to foster emotional growth in children. We explore themes such as friendship, belonging, mental health and personal growth. These productions are designed not only to entertain but also to provoke thought and encourage young audiences to reflect on the reality of their own lives.

Creating Magic is the ethos that guides The Flying Elephant Company forward.
The mission is to create character driven stories that explore rich and complex themes, that teaches kids to dream fearlessly, that there is wonder to be found in the most unlikely of places.
Our stories are written to not only impact the minds of kids but touch their hearts, leaving them with precious memories that will last beyond the 60-minute runtime. They are special because each one is a completely original local product, from head to toe. We use sweeping orchestral backing tracks to build atmosphere and give audiences a sense of the cinematic, while giving them moments to laugh, connect and reflect.
