"The Flying Elephant Company has pulled out a cracker"
Book Nooks - A Christmas Musical "grabbed the very essence of Christmas magic by the baubles with a heartwarming tale that’s equal parts touching and whimsical", says On Your Markus about the premiere season. He continues, "It’s a festive experience that promises to leave audiences smiling through their tears."
Opening to critical acclaim at the Burnside Ballroom the week before Christmas, Book Nooks quickly became a favourite for the festive season. The musical was written and directed by Benji Riggs, with choreography by Bridget Tran, and a cast of ten South Australian performers.
"That the inspiration figures in this work are Charles Dickens and Stephen Sondheim shine forth from the show. Yes, it is Dickens-a-la-Riggs with a very neat, foot-tapping Sondheim-esque original score", said Samela Harris of The Barefoot Review.
Book Nooks was hailed as "a production to be seen, appreciated and valued" by The Theatre Associated of South Australia.
The Flying Elephant Company would like to thank all those who both assisted with and attended the performance. We were overwhelmed by the positive response from audiences, which has inspired us to think ahead to what might come next for Book Nooks.
